Prerequisites

A. You must have already set up Collection Management software on a PC on the same network, as per the instructions here:

B. You must have the user name and password available for MyMovies.dk account on this setup
  • We generally recommend using (1) MyMovies.dk account per installation or setup

C. You must have already set up archived at least (1) movie onto the VidaBox Media NAS / Server successfully

D. You must not change the user name and password for the credentials in the Mymovies.dk account after this is all set.

E. You must know the current IP address of the VidaBox Media NAS / Server and all Dune HD Media Players.

F. You should configure the setup so that the IP addresses of all devices in this setup will not change (via binding the MAC ID to a leased IP address, or via static IP - your choice)

For further assistance on these prerequisites, contact your network administrator, or manufacturer of your NAS unit.

Procedure

Part 1. Link the VidaBox Media NAS / Server to the Registered MyMovies.dk account

  • Log onto the VidaBox Media NAS / Server, and start the DASHBOARD

  • Click on the Drop-n-Rip Archiving Tab

  • Click on SETTINGS on the right

  • On the pop-up menu, click on LOG IN.

  • Enter in the MyMovies.dk account credentials here

  • We should now see the Username displayed (shown as blurred)
IMPORTANT - There is NO NEED to purchase points.  Purchasing additional points WILL NOT UNLOCK additional features, as your VidaBox Media NAS / Server is already fully licensed with all features unlocked.

  • Next, click on ONLINE COLLECTION [1]
  • CHECK both check boxes at the bottom for:
    • [2] "Allow online storage of local harddrive and storage paths"
    • [3] "Allow online storage of media player path configurations"

  • The VidaBox Media NAS / Server is all set.  Proceed to Part 2.

Part 2. Configure the Collection Management Software

  • Go onto the PC with the Collection Management software already set up and installed, and start the program.
  • We need to make sure "Store Paths" are also set to be synchronized on the client.
    • On the top, click on WEBSERVICE
    • Then, click on CONFIGURE ONLINE AND MOBILE COLLECTION

    • Next, CHECK both check boxes at the bottom for:
      • "Allow online storage of local harddrive and storage paths"
      • "Allow online storage of media player path configurations"
      • Click OK to Close the Window when finished.

  • Next, we will now "push" the data to the online webservice.
    • On the top, click on WEBSERVICE [1]
    • Then, click on SYNCHRONIZE ONLINE AND MOBILE COLLECTION [2]

    • We'll now see a pop up - select UPLOAD TO SERVER [1]
    • Then, click OK [2]

  • The local movie database will now be uploaded / synchronized to the MyMovies.dk server

  • We will now be able to see movies info and metadata on our iOS/ Android devices.  Proceed to Part 3.

Part 3. Install the iOS / Android MyMovies App

  • After we log in, we may see a prompt asking us to Synchronize.
  • If so, select YES.

  • In a few moments, movies and cover arts will be loaded, as shown below.
  • DO NOT START USING THE INTERFACE YET - proceed with configuration by clicking on SETTINGS.

  • Under SETTINGS [1], scroll to the bottom until you see CONNECT TO MY MOVIES SERVER [2]

  • On this screen, type in the IP address of the VidaBox Media NAS / Server [1]
  • Then, click on CONNECT [2].

  • Once successfully done, you will see the "Disconnect" option appear.
  • Click on SETTINGS (in the upper left) to go back to the previous page

  • Next, click on REMOTE CONTROL

  • Select DUNE PLAYER [1], and click on CONFIGURATION [2]

  • Click on ADD PLAYER

  • Enter in the zone, room, or reference NAME for this player [1]
  • Then, type in its IP address [2]
  • Then, click on DONE in the upper right.
  • If you have additional players, click on ADD PLAYER again, and add in the 2nd, 3rd, etc. Dune HD players until they are all listed.

  • If you have a 2nd, 3rd, etc. iOS / Android device, repeat these procedures above for the other apps.
  • We are now finished with configuring the iOS / Anroid App.  Proceed to Part 4.

Part 4. Testing Playback

  • Now that we've completed configuration, we can now try the controls.
  • Click on the COLLECTION button on the lower left
  • Then, pick any movie title

  • After selecting a title, we should be able to see its cover, metadata, plot info, view a trailer, and more.
  • To launch playback click on the "Action" button on the upper right (shown below left)
  • The interface will prompt for us to PLAY, LOAN TO, or DELETE the title.
    • Note: On the larger iPad / Android tablets, the interface will display the PLAY, LOAN TO, etc buttons right away

  • If we have multiple Dune HD players, select the NAME of the Dune HD Player to start playback!

  • Playback will now commence on the selected Dune HD Player - enjoy!
  • We are now finished with the setup!

Troubleshooting

Below is a list of common questions / issues for the set up above.

Movies aren't showing on the iOS/ Android interface

Check to make sure that:

  • Movies have already been archived onto the system
  • The correct / same MyMovies.dk account is logged into ALL your devices:
    • The VidaBox Media NAS / Server
    • Collection Management on your PC
    • Your iOS / Android devices
  • If symptoms persist, close / restart the app, or reboot your iOS / Android device
    • This issue can occur if new movies have been added recently and the app was already running.  This prevents its cache being refreshed.  A reboot of the iOS / Android device will resolve this.

The remote is not working (Example: After clicking PLAY to start playback, nothing happens)

Check to make sure that:

  • The Dune HD player's IP addresses were entered in correctly
  • The Dune HD player's IP address has not changed - review Dune HD network settings area, and then contact your network administrator for how to determine this.
  • There are no firewalls / special configurations on your router / switch that is preventing IP controls

Cannot connect to the MyMovies Server / VidaBox Media NAS / Server in Part 3

Check to make sure that:

  • There are no firewalls / special configurations set in the router / switch that is preventing IP communications & commands reaching the VidaBox Media NAS / Server
  • As a test, turn off all firewalls
  • Contact your network administrator for additional assistance on this topic for IP controls

When I start a movie an error message appears (something about "paths")

Re-run part 2, so that the metadata is definitely up to date.
