This driver contains two components:

  •     MyMovies + Dune HD Media Player Driver (Two components -> One Driver)
  •     Template Pack with the following template sizes:
    • 640 x 480 (T4, K4)
    • 640 x 960 (iPhone4/4S)
    • 1024 x 768 (iPad1, 2, mini)
    • 2048 x 1536 (Ipad 3, 4)

Download these two components by scrolling to the bottom of the page [See attachments].
The driver can be used only for Dune control as well.

Basic Driver Function

The driver accesses the meta-data that is stored on the MyMovies server via the IP address provided from the driver configuration screen. The meta-data can be shown using cover art (dynamic images), movie titles (text variables), or an item list. When an item (such as a dynamic image button, text button, or item list) is chosen, the movie is considered “highlighted”. The highlighted movie can be displayed using the current title, front cover, back cover, and other information. Pressing the "Play Highlighted Movie" function will then start playing the movie that was highlighted.

Driver Licensing

To license the driver for use, contact VidaBox with the MAC ID of your RTI controller to request a license for the driver you had purchased. They will provide you with a unique license key that should be used in the driver configurations tab (see additional details under driver configuration below).

Note that the driver will not work without a license key that is provided by VidaBox. The license key is unique to and dependent on the MAC ID of the controller on which the system is installed. Hence, the driver can be used on multiple components that are installed on and controlled by the same controller (e.g. multiple LiivNAS units, or multiple Dune HD Players) - but you cannot use the same driver key on different controllers.

Prerequisites : Before Proceeding

Part 1 : Identify and lock in the system's IP Address

Set up your VidaBox Media System as per instructions, with a connected monitor, keyboard, and mouse to begin.

First, determine your VidaBox Media System's IP address as per the instructions here:

Once this is done, go onto your router, and look up the MAC ID of the VidaBox Media System. Permanently lease / bind this MAC ID to the IP address that is shown (or another of your choice), so that this IP Address will not change. (VidaBox does not recommend setting a static IP address on the system manually)

At the end of this part, make sure the new, permanent IP address is noted, so that we can proceed.

Part 2 : Update the Media System's Drop-n-Rip software to the latest version

For RTI controls, we recommend updating to the latest Drop-n-Rip software module. Step by step instructions for this can be found here:

Part 3 : Enable backdrop / fanart downloads

Next, we have to enable backdrop / fanart downloads. Simply follow the steps shown here below:

Part 4 : Update RTI Integration Designer & Controller Firmware

The included templates are created with the latest versions of Integration Designer (as of April 2013), so while Integration Designer will be forcably upgraded, the controller firmware (XP3, XP6, and XP8) may still be outdated. Make sure that the controller firmware is updated to the latest version to prevent problems.

Driver Configuration

Dune IP Address – IP address of the Dune player this driver will control. If you have multiple Dune players on the system, then create a driver for each.

MyMovies Server IP Address – IP address of the server / NAS that the movies are stored on.

Dune Key – This is a key that is provided directly from VidaBox. You must provide the Mac Address of the RTI XP controller that the driver will be installed on.

API Key – This is key that is provided from the MyMovies server itself (the server located on your Local Area Network, not the MyMovies website).
You can find this by:

1. Start DASHBOARD
2. Click on DROP-n-RIP ARCHIVING
3. Click on SETTINGS on the right

4. Click on REMOTE CONTROL SEVER on the left side of the popup
5. Your API Key is displayed here

Cover Art Displayed – These are the number of cover art movie jackets that are displayed for browsing. The template provided for the iPad has 21 jackets shown. The iPhone and T4 templates have 10 jackets shown. Changing this number will change how many videos are paged through when pressing the “Page Forward” or “Page Backward” buttons during browsing. If you have more than one device controlling a single Dune player and the devices have different numbers of jackets shown, then you will need to have separate drivers installed for each device.

Use Large Cover Art
– Selecting this button will allow the Large Cover Art Dynamic Images to be displayed. Deactivating this property will prevent the Large Cover Art images from being populated. Deactivating this will improve the rendering speed for the Thumbnail Cover Art Dynamic Images.

Use Thumbnail Cover Art
– Selecting this button will allow the Thumbnail Cover Art Dynamic Images to be displayed. Deactivating this property will prevent the Thumbnail Cover Art images from being populated. Deactivating this will improve the rendering speed for the Large Cover Art Dynamic Images.

Driver Use

The driver commands are split into different categories, described below.
The following pictures highlight the use of the MyMovies commands and variables.

  • MyMovies Commands

Genre Button 1-4 – These commands are used to display the genres available in the collection. Only 4 buttons can be displayed to show the genres available. The Button Genre Forward / Backward commands are used to cycle through the genres. The button texts will update as required using the Genre Button 1-4 text variable and the Genre Button Active 1-4 for reversed state.

Button Genre Forward – This command allows the user to cycle forward through the genres displayed on Genre Button 1-4.

Button Genre Backward – This command allows the user to cycle backward through the genres displayed on Genre Button 1-4.

Year Button 1-4 – These commands are used to display the decades available in the collection. Only 4 buttons can be displayed to show the decades available. The Button Year Forward / Backward commands are used to cycle through the decades. The button texts will update as required using the Year Button 1-4 text variable and the Year Button Active 1-4 for reversed state.

Year Genre Forward – This command allows the user to cycle forward through the decades displayed on Year Button 1-4.

Year Genre Backward – This command allows the user to cycle backward through the decades displayed on Year Button 1-4.

Sort By Title – This command will display the Large Cover Art images, Thumbnail Cover Art Images and Cover Art Title 1-21 in alphabetical order by Sort Title.

Sort By Year – This command will display the Large Cover Art images, Thumbnail Cover Art Images and Cover Art Title 1-21 in order by decade. This will only display when a decade is selected.

Sort By Genre – This command will display the Large Cover Art images, Thumbnail Cover Art Images and Cover Art Title 1-21 in order by Genre. This will only display when a Genre is selected.

Refresh Movies List – This command will refresh the movies list. This command should be utilized when a new movie has been added to collection. In the template provided, this command is activated within a page jump macro so the list is updated each time the user jumps to Browse Movies on the activities screen. The template also includes a button that can be used to manually refresh the movie list. This command returns the system to “Sort By Title” state so if it is applied on a Genre or Year screen, then it should also have a page jump back to the Sort By Title screen. The Refresh Movies List can take several seconds so the Processing Hourglass variable is available to show / hide an hourglass image while the Refresh Movies List is processing.

Cover Art Button – This command is applied to the cover art buttons and will tell the system which movie was selected for highlighting. You will note that this command has a parameter Button ID-X that needs to be put in for each button. The first movie cover art should have the Button ID-X be 1. The second cover art should be 2 and so on. The last Button ID-X should be the same number as the number in the configuration settings under “Cover Art Displayed”. In the template, there are 21 cover art buttons shown so the Button ID-X for the final button is 21.

Jump To… A-D, E-I, J-M, N-Q, R-U, V-Z – These buttons allow the user to jump alphabetically to different sections in the movie list.

Play Highlighted Movie – Once a movie has been highlighted by selecting it with the Cover Art Button (or with an item list), then pressing the Play Highlighted Movie button will send a signal to the Dune unit to begin playback of that specific movie. Each DVD / Bluray is different so the playback instruction may be interpreted differently. Some DVD’s will go directly to play the movie while some may go to the DVD main menu.

Updated v1.2: The Play Highlighted Movie now includes the ability to play titles that have multiple discs (Such as Bonus Features Disc or TV series titles that include multiple discs with episodes).  If there is only one disc associated with the title, then the Play Highlighted Movie will function as before and will start the movie immediately.  If there are more than one disc associated with the title, then the Disc X Present variables will be set to TRUE.  These allow the programmer the ability to show the other disc options to the user.

Play Multi-Disc XAdded in v1.2  When there are multiple discs associated with a title, this command tells the driver to play the alternate discs.  For example, if a movie title has a 2nd disc for Bonus Features, pressing the Play Multi-Disc 2 will play the Bonus Features disc.  The driver provided uses the Disc X Present variable and the Multi-Disc Set Title X text variable to display the name for the alternate discs.

Page Forward – This button will “page forward” in the movie list displayed on the Cover Arts Dynamic Images.

Page Backward - This button will “page forward” in the movie list displayed on the Cover Arts Dynamic Images.

Jump To End - This button will jump the movie list displayed on the Cover Arts Dynamic Images to the end of the list.

Jump To Beginning - This button will jump the movie list displayed on the Cover Arts Dynamic Images to the start of the list.

  • Dune HD Commands

These commands duplicate the keys found the Dune remote control. The commands can have different functions depending on the stage the player is in (Top Menu means “Go To Top Menu Structure” when used in the Dune menu system but can mean “Disc Menu” when used when playing a DVD.

Cursor Up, Cursor Down, Cursor Left, Cursor Right, Cursor Enter, Return, Info, PopUp Menu, Top Menu, Eject, Mute, Power On, Power Off, Dune Mode, Power Toggle, A, B, C, D, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0, Clear, Number Select, Volume Plus, Volume Minus, Page Plus, Page Minus, Search, Zoom, Setup, Play, Pause, Previous, Next, Stop, Slow, Rewind, Forward, Subtitle, Angle Rotate, Audio, Repeat, Shuffle PIP, URL, Record, Dune Button

  • Driver Variables

Key Code Accepted – This variable can be used in a text field to show if the Dune Key that was input in the driver configuration file is accepted.

Current Title Summary – This variable displays the movie summary for the movie that is currently highlighted. The text field is limited to 500 character length (this is a limitation dictated by RTI).

Movie Rating – This variable display the movie rating (PG, PG-13, R, NC-17, NA) for the movie that is currently highlighted.

Movie Rating Tag – This variable will show the movie tag like “Parental Guidance Suggested” that is associated with the movie rating for the movie that is currently highlighted.

Movie Rating Desc – Some movies include additional descriptive information on why the movie is given a specific rating. For PG-13, it could state something like “For Extreme Action Violence”. This variable will display this information. This information is not available or applicable to all movies.

Current Title of Selected Movie – This variable shows the title of the currently highlighted movie.

Cover Art Title 1 Through 21 – These variables can be used to display the title for the movie associated with the cover arts displayed. This can be very useful when a movie doesn’t have a cover art image. The template provided has the title displayed behind the cover art images so they will be displayed when a cover art is not available.

Processing Hourglass – This variable can be used to display an hourglass (bitmap image) while the system is processing the Refresh Movies command. The Refresh Movies command can take a several seconds to process.

Movie Jacket Front Cover – This dynamic image variable is used to display the front cover art of the movie jacket for the movie that is currently selected (highlighted).

Movie Jacket Back Cover – This dynamic image variable is used to display the back cover art of the movie jacket for the movie that is currently selected (highlighted).

Disc X Present (1 through 10)This variable was added in v1.2.  This is a TRUE / FALSE variable that is activated with the Play Highlighted Movie button. This variable can be used to show what additional discs are available for multi-disc titles such as a movie that has a Bonus Features disc or a TV series that has several discs with episodes for the season.

Multi-Disc Set Title X (1 through 10) - This variable was added in v1.2.  This is a text variable that will show the title of the alternate discs associated with a movie title.  If a movie title has a Bonus Features disc, then the Multi-Disc Set Title 2 might be “Disc 2 – Bonus Features”.

[VidaBox LLC]: RTI / VidaBox - MyMovies / Dune Player Driver 2013-09-26 14:55

    Dear Total Control Remotes,

    Thank you for writing!

    1) The 1990 bug shouldn't be present. Are there any 1990's movies? (If not, then it would not show) Please see our previous email response from last week for more details.

    2) There is no 2-way feedback directly from Dune HD at present to indicate the title being played, so there's no way for us to do this right now (unless Dune HD updates their API), sorry.

On the request, we're definitely open to it and will see what we can do, depending on resources available. Thanks again for the great feedback!

[ Total Control Remotes LLC]: RTI / Vidabox My Movies/Dune Player Driver 2013-09-17 04:01

I have done extensive testing with the driver and noticed a couple of bugs:

1- The year "1990" is not showing up when paging through the title list by year.

2- The title of the selected movie does not poll the Dune Player or Vidabox once the movie starts playing. So if you interrupt the app by syncing a new version, etc. the now playing title will not show up again until you select or re-select the movie.

Not a bug, but a request: Will you be able to support scrolling lists in the future? (scroll by title using RTI's 2-way browse list).

[ Total Control Remotes LLC]: VidaBox / Dune HD Driver Processor Alert 2013-08-30 06:14

This is a fantastic driver that works very well. Please be aware that if you have an old XP-8 processor it may be necessary to upgrade to the XP-8s, or utilize the XP-6 or XP-3. The increased ram will greatly affect the latency (or lack thereof) in the driver.
